Imelda to head toward Bahamas, not South Florida

It appears “future” Imelda is on track to remain east of South Florida this weekend. The forecast path shows the system moving northwestward over the Bahamas, Saturday into Sunday, bringing heavy rain and tropical storm conditions (winds around 40 to 50 mph).

Potential tropical system in the Gulf could swing rain bands into South Florida this week

It has been a nice weekend without any heat advisories. The first day of Fall will bring a ton of sunshine and only an isolated storm for inland areas. Many will stay dry.

By mid-week, attention turns to a potential tropical system moving from the western Caribbean into the Gulf of Mexico.

While the track is uncertain, even a path to the west of South Florida would still bring outer rain bands to the area as early as Wednesday.

Depending on how close the storm tracks to us, there is a potential for heavy rainfall during the second half of the week. Stay informed with future tropical updates as we monitor the progress of this system.
