MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — A severe storm caused damage in a Miami Gardens neighborhood on Monday afternoon.
The storm tore through a carport in the area of Northwest 26th Avenue and 156th Street.
“I feel terrible,” said homeowner Helene Giles. “This carport has been here at least 60 years and now it’s gone.”
Residents also reported damage to fences and snapped trees.
Longtime neighbor Shirley Stanley said all of a sudden the clouds started rolling in and everything went dark.
“I’m not a person to be nervous but I was a little nervous,” she said. “First time since I’ve been living here.”
In one case, a resident’s window was smashed through with flying debris.
There were no immediate reports of any injuries.
