South Carolina coastal areas under tropical storm watch

WEATHER AUTHORITY — The National Hurricane Center announced on Friday afternoon that there was an Atlantic tropical depression gradually strengthening near Florida.

Meteorologists expect Tropical Depression Three to strengthen into a tropical storm on Saturday and move near or over the South Carolina coast on Sunday.

The NHC issued a tropical storm watch in South Carolina, from Edisto Beach to Little River Inlet.

The coastal residents of South Carolina should expect heavy rainfall, a risk of flash flooding, a storm surge of 1 to 2 feet above ground level, rough surf, and rip currents.
