MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A portion of U.S. 441 in northwest Miami-Dade was shut down Tuesday afternoon as authorities investigated after authorities said an inert grenade was located in the area.
The closure occurred near Northwest 108th Street, where Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and police units blocked off the area.
Emergency vehicles were positioned along the roadway, and yellow police tape was stretched across the street, preventing traffic from passing through.
Interstate 95 was also experiencing heavy traffic.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office’s bomb squad confirmed that the grenade “contained no explosive material and has been made permanently safe.”
Sky 10 flew over the scene at about 12:40 p.m., showing multiple Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units securing the area.
No other details were immediately released.
