Gio Insignares joined the Local 10 News team in May 2021 as an anchor and reporter. He’ll be co-anchoring the new WSFL Morning Newscast, Monday-Friday from 7-9 a.m., and also contribute to other WPLG newscasts.
Gio is originally from Miami, born and raised in Miami-Dade County. He lived in Maryland, Alabama, and Oregon before arriving back home again.
He is also a proud graduate of the University of Maryland, with a degree in broadcast journalism.
Gio’s anchoring and reporting experience stretch from the West Coast to the nation’s capital. After starting in Medford, Oregon, he moved to Washington, D.C. as a morning anchor and reporter, and in that time has covered stories such as the 2016 Election, raging wildfires, the memorials for former Senator John McCain and former President George H.W. Bush, the coronavirus pandemic, and racial justice protests.
In his spare time, Gio loves going to the movies as much as possible, trying all the food across South Florida, and spending time with his two dogs.
Gio is beyond thrilled to be back in the Sunshine State and can’t wait to relive the comforts of home.
