The Humane Society of Broward County released the surveillance video showing the thief taking the puppy from the shelter’s kennel on Sept. 12, at 2070 Griffin Road.

The puppy named Pebbles was microchipped and is “vulnerable and fragile” without treatment for parasites and a fungal infection, according to Cherie Wachter, of the Humane Society of Broward County.

“She does have ringworm, which is contagious to people and other animals,” Wachter said.

Surveillance video shows the thief was riding a bicycle and carrying the puppy in a backpack.

“Her livelihood definitely is at risk,” Wachter said.

Wachter asked anyone with information about the puppy to call 954-989-3977.
