Police take 3 into custody after armed robbery turns into crash, chase in Miami

MIAMI — Three suspects are in custody following an overnight armed carjacking that led to a crash and foot chase in Miami that was caught on camera.

The incident began just before 2 a.m. Sunday when the suspects allegedly carjacked a silver Hyundai Elantra near Southwest 17th Avenue and Fifth Street, according to the Miami Police Department.

Shortly after, police said the vehicle crashed into a building along Southwest 22nd Avenue.

Surveillance video obtained by Local 10 News shows the three suspects running from the scene, which police say prompted a large police response, including detectives and tactical officers with long guns and an armored vehicle.
