MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A large police response in Miami Beach was observed early Sunday morning.
It was behind the Blackstone apartments located along Eighth Street and Washington Avenue in South Beach.
Local 10 News learned that someone was found dead there following a welfare check overnight.
Officers have since blocked off the street in order to investigate, with police appearing to focus much of their attention on a dumpster.
That dumpster appeared to be up on a forklift when it was loaded onto the back of a tow truck, the top of it covered by a yellow sheet.
Just a few feet away, several evidence markers were placed along the sidewalk with what appeared to be some articles of clothing on the ground nearby.
According to police, all of this started just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday when they responded for a welfare check.
At some point, officers said they discovered the body of someone who had died.
Police said they have someone in custody, but have not revealed any information about the person who died.
