The forecast path shows the system moving northwestward over the Bahamas, Saturday into Sunday, and bringing heavy rain and tropical storm conditions -- with winds of about 40 to 50 mph.

In South Florida, there were partly cloudy skies and light winds.

Saturday brings a sun/cloud mix and north-northeast winds, 5 to 10 mph with gusts around 15 mph. Scattered showers and storms will be possible, especially during the afternoon.

Sunday, “future” Imelda, likely will be in the vicinity of the northwest Bahamas. A rainband on the outer fringes of the system could reach South Florida and bring a burst of showers and gusty winds. Generally, plan for winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts 20 to 25 mph.

Indeed, it will be a hot, humid weekend with temperatures forecast to reach the low 90s. The drier air is set to reach South Florida on Monday.
