Melissa strengthens to a Category 5 hurricane as it nears Jamaica

Hurricane Melissa strengthened into a major Category 4 hurricane, with the possibility of intensifying to a Category 5 storm Sunday night, unleashing torrential rain and threatening to cause catastrophic flooding in the northern Caribbean, including Haiti and Jamaica, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

Weather conditions are looking and feeling quite nice for South Florida.

Rain will not be an issue for Miami-Dade and Broward counties or the Keys Tuesday evening.

As scatters clouds decorate the sky and north-northeast wins stir, temperatures are forecast to dip into the 70s overnight.

Wednesday brings more of the same north-northeast breeze, few clouds and hardly a drop of rain.

Humidity levels will remain tolerable as temperatures march toward the mid-80s.
