POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — Two people were killed and four others hospitalized in a two-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 95 near the Copans Road exit in Pompano Beach Friday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
FHP officials said the victims were occupants of a vehicle that appeared to have been rear-ended. The four injured were transported to Broward Health North for treatment.
They said the crash closed the general-purpose lanes, while the express lanes remained open but moving slowly. Traffic homicide units were on scene investigating.
Sky 10 flew over the scene, showing heavily damaged vehicles and traffic backups stretching into Deerfield Beach. Motorists were urged to avoid the area.
No additional details about the crash or the victims were immediately available.
