FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Inter Miami CF is celebrating Lionel Messi on Tuesday after the Major League Soccer Cup victory on Saturday at the Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
Don Garber, the MLS commissioner, awarded Messi the 2025 Landon Donovan MLS Most Valuable Player and described him as a game changer.
It was Messi’s second consecutive MLS MVP award.
“He has elevated this league in ways that I don’t think anybody could have imagined,” Garber said, adding, “When you have the greatest player to ever play a game playing here at Inter Miami, it raises the profile of the league.”
Inter Miami also celebrated the inaugural Messi Cup, a tournament for club players younger than 16 years old. The games are from Tuesday to Dec. 14.
