MIAMI — Major League Baseball is suspending a player from the Miami Marlins.
Marlins pitcher Paul Campbell has been suspended 80 games for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancing substances.
According to MLB, Campbell tested positive for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone, better known by the acronym DCHMT.
Shortly after the suspension was announced, the Major League Baseball Players’ Association (MLBPA) released a statement from Campbell, which read, in part:
“I never knowingly, willingly or intentionally ingested this substance in any form nor have I ever heard of DHCMT prior to this situation.”

Campbell was a Rule 5 draft selection by Miami from the Tampa Bay Rays.
He made five appearance for the Marlins, including one start, and held an 0-2 record with an 8.74 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 11.1 innings.
