According to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, Nahuel Agustín Gallo was detained on Dec. 8 at the Francisco de Paula Santander International Bridge in Ureña, Venezuela.

Gallo, 33, who had both a passport and a round-trip ticket, was on his way to meet with his Venezuelan wife and their two-year-old son, according to the IACHR.

“It is a forced disappearance,” Milei said.

A witness reported members of the Venezuelan Department of Military Counterintelligence detained Gallo, a non-commissioned officer from Argentina, according to IACHR.

Gallo was “kidnapped and arbitrarily detained in Venezuela without charges or legal or consular assistance,” Milei said.

Milei, who took office on Dec. 10, 2023, also criticized the U.N. as ineffective and said that while the international organization has increased members’ responsibilities, the organization’s results have decreased.

Milei, a right-wing libertarian who supports President Donald Trump, also talked about the assassinations of political candidates and activists around the world.

“We are witnessing an unacceptable escalation of political violence by the left at a global level,” Milei said.
