Severe weather was to blame for I-75 crashes involving about 50 vehicles, FHP troopers say

OCALA, Fla. — Severe weather was to blame for a series of crashes on Friday along Interstate 75 that involved about 50 vehicles in Marion County.

Lt. Alain Hernandez, a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol, released a statement saying the crashes were in the southbound lanes of I-75 near U.S. 27.

Hernandez said the crashes were “in the span of 2 miles” and there were ”multiple tractor-trailers and passenger vehicles.”

There weren’t serious injuries, according to Hernandez, who added that the individual crashes were still under investigation.
