The agency announced on Thursday that Andrew Glass, Fernand Charles Jr. and Javier Ruiz will serve in the newly filled roles.

Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz wrote in a statement the three bring “decades of experience and expertise” that will help improve the agency’s services across Miami-Dade County.

“The designation of Andrew Glass, Javier Ruiz and Fernand Charles to Assistant Sheriffs will strengthen the quality of services we provide our community,” she wrote. “Their leadership and dedication will contribute to elevating the operational standards of our agency. The residents of Miami-Dade deserve the very best when it comes to public safety, and I am fully committed to fostering that at every level of MDSO.”

The appointments come weeks after the sheriff fired three assistant chiefs as part of broader changes within the department.

Officials said one of the deputies affected by the earlier shakeup remained with the agency in a demoted role.
