Construction begins on $280M sports complex in Homestead

HOMESTEAD, Fla. — Construction on a $280 million sports complex is underway in Homestead.

The Sports Performance Hub will be home to a public park, a boarding school geared toward international athletes, and a 10,000-seat arena for the Miami FC soccer team.

“A multi-purpose arena to house their soccer teams, concerts, a new home for our 77-year-old Homestead Rodeo,” Homestead Mayor Steven Losner told Local 10 News. “You name it, it can happen there.”

No public money is being used. The project is led by investors and entrepreneurs, including retired Argentine soccer star Juan Sebastián Verón, and former NBA player Manu Ginobili.

The 92-acre site is near the Homestead Air Reserve Base and construction will happen in two phases.

The first phase will include the park, and is expected to be completed in approximately 18 months. The second phase, including the arena, is scheduled to be finished in 2029.
