Florida International University increases security after ‘hoax’ threat

FIU Police Department: SKY 10 was over the Florida International University Biscayne Campus on Tuesday afternoon and there were more police officers than usual in the parking lot.

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. — Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies helped the Florida International University Police Department to increase security on Tuesday.

According to the FIU Police Department, deputies and police officers received reports of “a threat to FIU” that “appears to be a hoax.”

Shortly before 1:50 p.m., FIU police officers stood at the parking lot of the Biscayne Bay Campus at 3000 NE 151 St., in North Miami.
