FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Local 10 News obtained a trove of evidence on Wednesday that Broward County prosecutors plan to use in their case against 44-year-old Nathan Gingles, the man accused of murdering his estranged wife, his father-in-law and a neighbor in Tamarac in early 2025.
It includes photos of multiple high-powered rifles and video of investigators obtaining DNA from a shackled Gingles, then 43, while in custody.
Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives photographed him in an interrogation room. One of those released photos shows a minor wound on the side of his head.
Detectives took his clothing before reading him his Miranda rights and asked him if he was willing to speak without an attorney present.
He asked for a lawyer, and the interview ended.
Gingles, of Lauderhill, is accused of killing his estranged wife, Mary Gingles, 34; his father-in-law, David Ponzer, 64; and neighbor Andrew Ferrin, 36, on Feb. 16, 2025. He’s been charged with first-degree murder.
Deputies said Nathan and Mary Gingles’ 4-year-old daughter, Seraphine, accompanied her father during the killing spree on Plum Bay Parkway and witnessed all three murders.
The murders happened amid documented marriage issues and allegations of abuse by Mary Gingles, who prosecutors say was in fear of her husband.
Among the images are photos of Gingles in an Army uniform, military books and brochures from his eight years of service, along with thousands of dollars in cash.
BSO’s response sparked a lengthy internal affairs investigation into deputies’ response and the handling of Mary Gingles’ pleas for help in the period leading up to the killings.
Sheriff Gregory Tony was publicly critical of investigators, saying Mary Gingles, who had an active restraining order, had been failed.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in this case. Gingles remains locked up, without bond, at the BSO Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale as of Wednesday.
