BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — Crews closed a portion of a street in central Broward County on Monday morning after a six-foot-wide sinkhole opened up.
It happened just after 9:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Northwest 27th Terrace in the county’s unincorporated Boulevard Gardens section just outside of Fort Lauderdale, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said “a construction vehicle struck a fire hydrant that flooded the road” and opened up the sinkhole.
Utility workers shut off the water and the “area has been closed off as crews work to repair the damages,” deputies said.
BSO deputies are investigating the crash.
