PLANTATION, Fla. — A Pembroke Pines man accused of secretly recording a woman inside a fitting room at a Plantation Kohl’s was taken into custody after fleeing the store and being tracked down by police, according to an arrest report obtained by Local 10 News.
The report stated that officers with the Plantation Police Department responded on Dec. 18 to the Kohl’s department store at 821 S. University Drive after receiving reports that a man had been caught recording a woman inside a fitting room.
Investigators said the suspect followed the victim throughout the store before the incident.
Police identified the suspect as 26-year-old Derrick Jordan Wright Jr.
Investigators said the woman later realized she had been recorded while trying on clothes inside a fitting room.
After leaving the fitting room, police said Wright allegedly approached the victim and showed her a video on his phone that recorded her topless.
They said the victim became upset and began yelling, prompting the suspect to flee the store. The victim and several customers chased him as he ran to a vehicle and drove away.
Officers obtained a description of the vehicle and requested assistance from the Pembroke Pines Police Department.
While heading to the suspect’s registered address, police said an officer spotted the vehicle near the Interstate 75 off-ramp at Sheridan Street.
Shortly after, they conducted a traffic stop near 15991 Sheridan St. and took Wright into custody.
Police said the suspect’s iPhone 15 was seized as evidence.
Jail records show Wright is facing one count of digital voyeurism. He was no longer listed as an inmate on the Broward Sheriff’s Office website as of Tuesday morning.
