FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Fort Lauderdale police responded Saturday to two reports of “suspicious packages” in separate areas of the city, and detectives believe the incidents may be related.
Police said the first report came at about 10:55 a.m. from the 1900 block of Cordova Road. Officers called in the department’s Bomb Squad, which determined the package did not pose a threat.
They said a second report came at approximately 12:04 p.m. from the 1700 block of S. Andrews Avenue.
While investigating, officers said they were flagged down about a second suspicious package nearby. Bomb Squad officers remained on scene analyzing both packages.
Local 10 News was at the scene, where a TJ Maxx near the Publix was sealed off along Cordova and 17th Street. At the time, the Publix had not been evacuated.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time.
