Investigation continues after Plantation fight between teens leads to gunfire

“It was just a big group of people fighting and I heard a gunshot and I started running,” PHS student Jazion Smith said.

PHS student Christopher Damis said he watched as the single shot sent the large group running for cover. But when the dust settled, Damis learned it was a fellow classmate hit by the gunfire.

“I (saw) a whole bunch of people crowded over at the spot and it was actually one of my teammates from last football season and he got shot,” Damis said. “It looked like the person tried to pistol-whip him, like hit him in the face with the gun. And my friend, he moved his head. And I swear, if he did not move his head, I don’t think he would be here.”

Medics took the victim to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
