MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A man accused of practicing medicine without a license walked out of jail Thursday night, wearing the same medical scrubs he was arrested in the day before.
Yumtut Mustafa appeared before a Miami-Dade County judge on charges that he illegally administered a Botox-type product. According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, its Medical Crimes Squad arrested him after he allegedly used an unapproved injectable imported from South Korea.
Mustafa, 39, is listed as the owner of YM Aesthetics, a clinic operating out of a high-rise in Brickell along the Miami River.
He is described as a Bulgarian-born British national with additional offices in London and New York. His website promotes him as an aesthetics expert with 11 years of experience.
During his court appearance, Mustafa told the judge he has lived in the area for three years.
Authorities say the state health department alerted investigators that Mustafa was not licensed to provide Botox injections in Florida.
According to an arrest form, undercover officers scheduled an appointment, during which Mustafa allegedly showed a vial of the injectable product he planned to use for a $599 forehead treatment. The undercover customer then signaled deputies, who entered and took him into custody.
As Mustafa left the jail, he did not answer questions about why he had represented himself as a doctor.
His bond was set at $5,000.
