FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Several students at Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale were taken to a hospital Wednesday morning after consuming edibles and becoming ill, according to a spokesperson with Broward County Public Schools.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said medics responded just after 9 a.m. to the school, located at 1800 SW Fifth Place.
BCPS said five students were transported to a nearby hospital out of an abundance of caution after appearing to have an adverse reaction to “gummies.”
“Words cannot express how outraged I feel about having drugs in the school,” said grandparent Diane Kohler, who added that her son would be speaking to her granddaughter about the incident. “That should be top priority.”
The incident remains under investigation, and no additional details were immediately released.
