It happened Saturday night along Hallandale Beach Boulevard and Dixie Highway.

In the footage, officers speak with Wayne Jones after he and two others narrowly escaped disaster.

“I was like nervous and scared at the same time thinking we were about to get hit,” Jones said.

Jones says he saw a woman inside an SUV stuck on the train tracks and before he knew it, he jumped into action to do what he could to help her.

“I didn’t hesitate,” he said. “I left my car in the middle of Dixie highway and ran across to the railroad tracks and tried to help her.”

Jones and another good Samaritan tried to use a truck to drag the SUV off the tracks, but with the train barreling towards them, they had to act quickly.

“When the arms came down and I heard that ‘ding ding ding’ it was time to get out of there,” said Jones. “I was like forget the car, it’s not gonna make it. Let’s just get out of here.”

Jones said he feels bad about the damage to the SUV and the truck, but what matters most is that he, the other man who stopped to help and that woman are all okay.

“I wasn’t trying to be a hero, I just reacted,” said Jones. “Just don’t think twice, just react.”
