TAMARAC, Fla. — A normally quiet Tamarac neighborhood remains on edge after deputies were called Sunday night to reports of a man acting recklessly with a gun.

Deputies stayed on Northwest 74th Avenue near North University Drive through the night as they processed the scene.

Neighbors told investigators they were terrified after seeing a man waving a gun outside a home just after 9 p.m.

The man’s grandmother said she witnessed what happened both before and after deputies arrived.

She said her 35-year-old grandson is recovering in the hospital and is expected to be OK. She added that the behavior was shocking to her, saying he had never shown signs of this before.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office has not yet released its account of the incident.

Local 10 has reached out to the agency for more information on the shooting.
