Miami-Dade mother accused of striking, choking teen daughter over ‘cleaning a mess’

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office took a woman into custody after a domestic disturbance with her daughter.

It happened at their home along the 26000 block of Southwest 135th Street.

According to an arrest form, deputies arrived and spoke with the victim, who stated that her mother, 35-year-old Jamika Jackson, hit her in the face and put in a choke hold “over cleaning a mess.”

Multiple witnesses corroborated the victim’s story, deputies said.

Additionally, Jackson’s arrest form stated that she confessed to slapping her daughter, throwing her on the floor and putting her in a choke hold.

Deputies then arrested Jackson on a felony charge of child abuse with no great bodily harm and took her to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

As of Wednesday morning, she remains behind bars, where her bond is listed as “to be set.”
