MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a deadly shooting in the county’s unincorporated Naranja area late Sunday night.
According to MDSO, it happened just before 11:30 p.m. in the area of Southwest 266th Street and 138th Court.
Deputies said they responded to the area after receiving a ShotSpotter alert and found a man shot in the “upper extremities.”
Medics took the victim, whose name hasn’t been released as of early Monday morning, to Jackson South Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
“A lot of screaming female, male,” a neighbor who identified herself as Theresa said. “The pleas for life (were) worse than the shots to hear.”
MDSO homicide detectives were “actively investigating” the killing as of early Monday morning.
Neighbors say it’s just another reason why they fear for their safety in Naranja. Theresa said she’s planning her exit strategy.
“When we first got here, it wasn’t horrible. Wasn’t too bad. Little by little, (it) just gets worse and worse,” she said. “I have three kids. The looks on their faces and they’re scared to death. It’s just time to go.”
Authorities haven’t yet said whether they’ve identified any possible suspects or a motive.
