DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — Members of the Broward Sheriff’s Office, along with plenty of crime scene tape, surrounded a house in Deerfield Beach on Sunday after a shooting just before 10:30 a.m.
The home is located along the 200 block of Northwest Second Way.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived to the scene and found a man who had been shot.
Paramedics rushed the man to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, deputies said.
Investigators were able to identify a suspect in the shooting, and that person has been detained, according to BSO.
A neighbor who asked not to be identified told Local 10 News’ Brett Knese she heard multiple gunshots.
“As I’m walking out, that’s when I saw the young man lying on the ground,” she said.
That neighbor said when she went outside, she saw a man lying in the front yard and a woman screaming for someone to call 9-1-1.
“He wasn’t responsive,” she said. “He was just lying there. I didn’t see any blood or anything, but it was very, very traumatic.”
That neighbor says Broward Sheriff’s deputies swarmed the neighborhood telling people to go back inside until they secured the area.
“I pray that he makes it,” said the neighbor. “I pray that he’s okay because no one should die. No one should die from gun violence especially so close to thanksgiving. It’s very, very sad.”
