MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A man has died after crashing his vehicle into another car and then a tree Thursday morning in west Miami-Dade, authorities confirmed.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at about 6:10 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Northwest 36th Street near 72nd Avenue.
The driver who caused the collision was transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he died. His identity has not yet been released.
Deputies said a woman who was driving the other vehicle involved in the crash was not injured. She was the sole occupant of her vehicle.
Traffic was at a standstill at the major intersection after the crash, but eventually starting flowing slowly during rush hour.
The crash remains under investigation by MDSO Traffic Homicide detectives.
