One person was found inside the mobile home in a bathtub and pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Neighbors told Local 10 News they tried to break windows to reach the man, but the flames were too intense.

One neighbor, who asked not to be identified, said the victim was a retired Miami-Dade County school teacher.

“He loved life, he was always going traveling, even after his wife passed, he just loved life,” said the neighbor. “He was a good man, he truly was. If you want a neighbor, he would be your best neighbor and your best friend.”

Firefighters were initially able to extinguish the blaze, but authorities said the fire started up again about two hours later.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will be conducted jointly by the State Fire Marshal with Davie police and Davie Fire Rescue.

No other injuries were reported.
