‘We just showed up to work’: Dolphins react to dominant win over Bills

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — De’Von Achane totaled 225 yards of offense and scored two long rushing touchdowns as the Miami Dolphins beat the Buffalo Bills 30-13 on Sunday.

Miami (3-7) held Buffalo scoreless through three quarters and also forced three turnovers to help seal the victory.

Head coach Mike McDaniel credited a sharper week of preparation and the leadership within the locker room.

“It always starts with the leadership of the captains and the leadership council setting the tone,” McDaniel said. “It was a full week of preparation that was diligent and, quite honestly, a little salty. By and large, we just executed on the things that we set out to execute.”

Miami overcame a pre-snap penalty on the game’s first play and an early interception from Tua Tagovailoa, who said the win was meaningful given the team’s struggles in the series.

“It’s very satisfying,” Tagovailoa said. “We beat a great team today, and I’m proud of the guys in the locker room. The defense did what they needed to do. The offense did what we needed to do. Special teams did what they needed to do to help us collectively win this football game.”

Tagovailoa said Achane’s versatility changes everything for Miami.

“Every time you can get someone like that, a playmaker, on your team, you get him the ball in his hands and you know what he’s capable of doing,” Tagovailoa said. “He can align at running back, he can align at slot, at receiver — that tells you a lot about the playmaker he is.”

Achane said closing out the game on the ground felt like the payoff of the team’s work throughout the week, adding that those late, explosive runs that led to scores were simply about staying patient, trusting his blockers and doing his part to help secure the victory.

“It feels special,” he said. “I feel like this win, as a team, we played complementary football on all levels. When we click on all cylinders and we’re able to end the game on the offensive side, that’s the type of football we want to play.”

Miami’s defense sacked Josh Allen three times and limited Buffalo to its fewest points and yards through three quarters this season. Linebacker Bradley Chubb said belief inside the building never wavered.

“I used the word ‘delusional’ because nobody on the outside is going to believe it, but all of us in there do,” Chubb said. “We came out and showed it today.”
