MIAMI — Venezuela’s Nobel Peace Prize winner María Corina Machado told Miami Mayor Francis Suarez on Wednesday that she approved of the U.S. military actions in the southern Caribbean.

Through video conferencing, during the America Business Forum, a two-day event at the Kaseya Center in Downtown Miami, Machado praised President Donald Trump and State Secretary Marco Rubio.

“The strategy of President Trump toward this criminal narco-terrorist structure is absolutely correct because Nicolás Maduro is not a legitimate head of state,” said Machado, the opposition leader.

Maduro’s loyalists consider Machado a fugitive, so she said she was forced into hiding in Venezuela. Other opposition leaders live in exile in Colombia, Spain, and the United States.

“Maduro started this war, and President Trump is ending that war,” Machado said.

She also said Maduro has allowed Hezbollah, Iran, Russia, and China to have military and intelligence operations in Venezuela.
