Boating brothers jump into action after vessel catches fire off Hallandale Beach

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. — A day out on the water for Judson and Wyatt Grosvenor turned into one they will never forget.

The two brothers didn’t hesitate to jump into action when they saw another boat on fire just a few miles from them.

They were the first on the scene and helped save two other boaters.

“The entire area was full of really dark smoke,” said Judson Grosvenor. “The whole boat was on fire.”

With black smoke filling the air a few miles off the coast of Hallandale Beach, video from the brothers shows them racing as fast as they could to get to a boat on fire.

“It was a little wild but a little nerve-racking,” said Judson Grosvenor. “We just wanted to make sure we were helping and not hurting the situation.”

By the time they arrived at the scene, the other boat was fully engulfed in flames and two men were in the water.

They helped one of the men to safety while directing the Coast Guard to the other man.

“We were worried about running someone over, so I had him go up on the bow and he was looking out for people as I drove over to the fire,” said Wyatt Grosvenor.

While the fire remains under investigation, the brothers say they’re grateful they were in the right place at the right time and that somehow, no one was hurt.

“You just always have to be prepared and have the right safety equipment and look out for each other,” said Judson Grosvenor.
