MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — A woman says she was ready to defend her family after police said a South Florida McDonald’s worker pulled a gun in the drive-thru lane early Sunday morning.
Chayton Timmons says she was in the car along with her pregnant daughter and her 1-year-old daughter, among others.
It all stemmed, authorities said, from a dispute after a long wait to get food at the drive-thru at 4686 NW 183rd St. in Miami Gardens.
Timmons said her family was waiting “over an hour” for food, leading to an argument with 19-year-old cashier Anthony Markeith Elliott III, who wouldn’t give them their food.
“We (were) looking at each other, me and my goddaughter looking at each other, like, ‘Why are you upset?’ And he was like, ‘I don’t have to give you nothing,’” she said. “He was like, ‘What you said (expletive)? What you said (expletive)?’ And we were like, ‘Are you serious?’ Like, what’s really going on? So he clutched at his waist.”
Authorities said Timmons flashed a gun at the family.
“I got on the phone with the cops,” Timmons said. “I said, ‘This is going to go one of two ways. ‘Miami Gardens Police Department: Y’all need to get here to McDonald’s, because somebody finna die.’”
She said after being threatened, she said “Listen, this mother ― want to make McGriddles or McChicken, because this is about to be a Mc(expletive)Funeral at this McDonald’s. I don’t play these types of games.”
Timmons, who’s already survived a shooting, said she went into defense mode.
“He has a death wish. He must have a death wish. This has got to be a suicide,” she said. “Because (there’s) no way that I’m gonna allow you to do anything bodily harm to mine.”
“All over McNuggets,” Local 10 News reporter Rosh Lowe said.
“All over McChicken,” Timmons said. “He must want to have a McFuneral to put my kids in harm’s way and that’s a problem for me. I’m not that type of girl, I’m not that type of woman and I’m not the type of parent.”
Police arrested Elliott, of Miami, on five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
