According to BSO, Breanna Evans faces two counts of attempted murder, one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle and one count of shooting from a vehicle.

BSO spokeswoman Claudinne Caro said the shooting was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Palmetto Park Road and Hillsboro Boulevard in Boca Raton. But authorities said the road rage incident started in Broward County.

The victim told investigators that Evans, who was driving a black Chevy Equinox, was weaving in and out of traffic, cutting off his vehicle while speeding before sideswiping him, according to her arrest report.

After the crash, the victim said he got out of his vehicle to check whether Evans was OK and noticed that her window was shattered, the report stated.

That’s when the victim said Evans began waving a black and purple Glock while cursing and threatening to shoot him, according to BSO.

The victim told deputies that he walked back to his vehicle and realized he had been shot.

Upon arrival, deputies said they discovered a box truck with a bullet hole piercing through the driver’s side of the cab. They said the man behind the wheel had been hit in the head just above his left temple.

Caro said after the shooting, Florida Highway Patrol troopers requested assistance from the Broward Sheriff’s Office and Boca Raton Police Department.

Paramedics, meanwhile, transported the victim to a local hospital with serious injuries.

While in court, Evans’ attorney claimed that the gunfire was an act of self-defense.

“She really felt fear for her life which resulted in the actions to defend herself,” her attorney stated. “My understanding was that she was being followed by these two male individuals.”

Caro confirmed that BSO is leading the investigation into the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.

Prosecutors said Evans poses a significant threat to the community based on her actions and judgment. For that reason, she is being held without bond at the Broward Main Jail.
