According to Miramar police, Miami Gardens police officers came across the crash just after 1 a.m. Monday in the area of Northwest 215th Street near the Turnpike.

Police confirmed the two vehicles involved in the crash were a 2017 Honda Civic and a 2020 Tesla 3.

“The Honda was eastbound in the westbound lanes, which caused a head-on collision with the Tesla,” police said in an email to Local 10 News.

According to first responders, the driver of the Honda became trapped in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

Police said the driver of the Tesla was transported to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital as a trauma alert.

The person killed in the crash was identified as 36-year-old Inacia Da Veiga Andrade.

County Line Road was closed in both directions for hours after the collision, but all lanes have since reopened.

Miramar Police Traffic Homicide detectives are investigating.
