MIAMI — Felony cases against a South Florida man and his son were dropped, court records show.

James Rudes and his son, Eliot Ray Rudes, had been arrested in an alleged stabbing incident in downtown Miami in February.

Authorities had accused Eliot Rudes of stabbing a man and James Rudes of hiding the knife used in the crime.

But prosecutors later dropped the charges. Documents Eliot Rudes provided to Local 10 News did not list why prosecutors chose not to pursue the case.

Eliot Rudes, in an email to Local 10 News, said the pair acted in self-defense.
