DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — A former employee with Highland Christian Academy, a private school in Deerfield Beach, has been arrested on multiple charges, including allegations that he engaged in sexual conduct with at least two students, according to jail records obtained by Local 10 News on Tuesday.
Records show Ronison Exavier, 24, of Coral Springs, was taken into custody Monday by the Broward Sheriff’s Office in Deerfield Beach.
An arrest report states that on Oct. 15, Exavier advised a female student on how she should modify her clothing to show off her buttocks before allegedly groping her.
The student then ran to a bathroom, where one of her peers said Exavier ordered her to get on her hands and knees before he allegedly thrust his body against her, according to investigators.
Authorities said both girls then notified the school’s principal about the incident.
A parent who asked not to be identified told Local 10 that one of the victims was a friend of her daughter.
“She brought it up to me mentioning that one of the girls mentioned that the coach had touched her, her butt, and that another girl had gone to the office to say something to the principal,” the parent stated.
According to the school’s website, Exavier served as an assistant athletic director at the K3-12 school, located at 501 NE 48th St.
As part of an agreement between the defense and the state, Exavier was placed under pretrial supervision with Level 2 GPS monitoring.
He was ordered to have no contact with the victim, no contact with minors except family members, and not to enter any Broward County school campuses or properties.
Highland Christian Academy sent an email to parents that read in part:
“As of this morning, a public booking record was released regarding the HCA employee, Ronison Exavier, who was accused of inappropriately touching students. As a result, Mr. Exavier has been terminated as an employee and is no longer permitted on the school campus or at any school-related activities.”
Authorities say Exavier is facing several charges that include:
- Soliciting or engaging in sexual conduct with a student
- Authority figure soliciting or engaging in sexual conduct with a student
- Lewd or lascivious conduct by a person 18 years or older
- Lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim between 12 and 16 years old by an offender 18 or older
- Battery (two counts)
He was being held at the Broward Main Jail on a $75,000 bond as of Wednesday afternoon.
Based on Exavier’s involvement with students at Highlands Christian Academy, detectives are concerned there may be additional victims.
Anyone with information may remain anonymous and is asked to contact BSO SVU Detective Eric Wilson at 954-321-4460 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
