Man accused of peering into 2 sisters’ bedroom in Coral Gables

Man accused of spying on teenage girls in Coral Gables

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — A Miami man was arrested Thursday, about two months after he allegedly trespassed onto private property in Coral Gables to look through the bedroom window of two teenage sisters, authorities said.

Lester Leonel Alfonso Ardevol, 58, was detained in the parking lot of his apartment complex, according to an arrest report.

The report states that the incident in question occurred just before 10:15 p.m. on Aug. 20 at a home on Velarde Avenue.

According to the report, a neighbor spotted Ardevol looking into one of the bedroom windows of his neighbor’s home before leaving through an alley between homes and then entering a vehicle.

Police said officers later made contact with the victims’ mother, who confirmed that her two 18-year-old daughters share the room the suspect was peering into.

One of the teens spoke with detectives and said she didn’t notice any suspicious individuals in the area that night, but she had called police on a previous date after hearing a suspicious noise near her bedroom window.

After that incident, officers went to her home but no one was found outside the window or nearby.

According to the arrest report, surveillance video helped police identify Ardevol as the suspect in the Aug. 20 incident.

After being detained Thursday, police said Ardevol admitted to stopping his vehicle near Le Jeune Road that night and urinating on residential property. Further statements made to police were redacted from the publicly released report.

Ardevol was arrested on charges of voyeurism and burglary of an occupied structure.

As of Friday afternoon, Ardevol was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Online jail records listed his bond as “to be set.”
