LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. — After a Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy shot a dog that had attacked a man on Tuesday in Lauderdale Lakes, residents said they had reported warning signs.
The dog had attacked a man when the deputy responded to the area of Northwest 35th Avenue and 39th Street, according to BSO.
After the man suffered several bites, the dog also tried to attack the BSO deputy, who was forced to fire, according to BSO.
“It attacked me one night when I was coming in,” Garfield Gordon, a neighbor, said.
Gordon said he and other residents had talked to the aggressive dog’s owner about the risks in a neighborhood where there are children.
“I told him that he has got to be careful with these dogs because they bite,” Gordon said.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel responded to help the injured man, Broward County Animal Care took the dog, and a BSO Internal Affairs Unit detective was set to investigate the shooting, according to BSO.
The dog owner refused to answer questions on Wednesday.
