Daisy Link, on trial for partner's murder, takes stand in own defense

Link gained notoriety last year when, while incarcerated, she became pregnant.

On Wednesday, Link took the stand in her own defense. Her attorneys have argued that her relationship with Jimenez, the father of two of her children, was volatile.

They allege that she fired a gun during an argument out of fear for her life.

While on the stand, Link described an incident that happened prior to Jimenez’s murder in which she said he showed up to her home unannounced, high on drugs, angry and armed.

She claims he shot at her before beating her with the gun.

Link said the two made up, but five days later, Jimenez found out she’d been with another man.

Enraged and hysterical, she said, Jimenez became aggressive and refused to leave.

She said she grabbed a gun and told him to leave, but that he did not listen to her.

Link claimed she was aiming the gun at the ground and that she only wanted to scare him away when she opened fire.

Prosecutors have argued that Link fired at Jimenez as he was running away.

On cross examination, Link was confronted about her initial lies to investigators when she lied and told responding officers that she did not know what happened.

She is facing a charge of second-degree murder.
