According to police, the shooting occurred Monday night near the intersection of Rock Island Road and Forest Boulevard.

Police said the victim was on foot when he was shot. He was transported as a trauma alert to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was taken into surgery.

Teenage boy shot in Margate Margate police are investigating a shooting that left a 15-year-old boy injured.

Authorities said Tuesday afternoon that the teen is in stable condition and expected to recover.

Detectives spent much of the afternoon canvassing the area, going door-to-door and speaking with residents in hopes of finding witnesses.

“You’ve got to stop the violence around this area. It’s a nice community,” said Tony Jay, who lives nearby. “I wish them the best and hopefully everybody is able to recover properly.”

Police said there is currently no surveillance video of the shooting, and circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.

No other details were immediately released.
