MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A southwest Miami-Dade man is facing three felony charges after sheriff’s deputies said he threatened to assault and kill employees at a tow yard Sunday evening.
Maximilian Perez, 37, even called 911 to let a dispatcher know his stated intentions, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
An MDSO arrest report states that employees at the Whitts Towing yard at 10734 SW 188th St., just outside of Cutler Bay, called authorities after Perez threatened “to go to the yard and shoot the employees” after the company towed his vehicle.
Deputies said a worker later told them “he was familiar with (Perez) as his vehicle had been towed multiple times in the past for violating his community’s parking guidelines, but that this was the first time he had threatened to harm them.”
According to the report, another employee said he saw Perez “step out of the driver’s side and retrieve two handguns,” though it states that deputies did not seize any weapons.
Authorities said Perez invoked his right to an attorney, but further investigation revealed that he had called 911 before arriving and told a dispatcher that he was driving over to “pistol whip and shoot everyone at the tow yard.”
Perez was arrested on three charges of aggravated assault with a firearm.
As of Monday afternoon, he was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $4,000 bond.
