MIAMI — Police officers arrested a man who refused to get out of a car on Monday morning in Miami’s Flagami neighborhood, police confirmed.

MPD A man was lying in the back seat of a white sports utility vehicle while police officers surrounded him on Monday in Miami.

According to the Miami Police Department, the “barricaded subject” was “possibly armed.”

The SUV’s doors were open, and a shirtless man was lying face up in the back seat.

Police officers closed the intersection at Northwest 42nd Avenue and 11th Street, and the area near the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Miami Airport South.

The suspect was later identified as 32-year-old Manuel De Leon Jr.

He faces charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm/weapon or ammunition, improper exhibition of a firearm, trespassing at an unoccupied structure or conveyance and contributing to the delinquency of a child.

Online jail records show he is also being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a warrant for charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm/weapon or ammunition and resisting an officer without violence.

As of Tuesday morning, his bond was listed as “to be set.”

It’s unclear why he allegedly barricaded himself inside the car. Local 10 News has requested a copy of his arrest report.
