Suspect arrested after stolen goods, drugs found during search of Davie business, cops say

DAVIE, Fla. — A joint investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol Cargo Theft Task Force and the Davie Police Department Crime Reduction Unit has led to an arrest and the seizure of stolen property and illegal narcotics, authorities said.

Investigators said the operation targeted a business at 5410 Reese Road, where they indicated that stolen cargo was being stored and sold at below-market prices.

They said the investigation stemmed from tips regarding a “major theft organization” known for stealing semi-trucks and trailers from unsecured parking lots.

A detective with the FHP Cargo Theft Task Force said the stolen cargo included 40 Bosch free-standing refrigerator freezers taken on July 28 in Orlando, valued at $200,000, and a semi-trailer of Bath & Body Works merchandise stolen on Aug. 16 in Fort Pierce, valued at $100,000.

On Sept. 4, the task force, assisted by Davie Police Crime Reduction Unit detectives, executed search warrants at the business, which included a Kwik Stop convenience store and an attached warehouse.

Authorities said the two locations share a wall with a concealed doorway that detectives discovered behind a refrigerator, linking the units.

They said Mohmed Usuf Belim, 48, was identified as the owner and sole occupant of the business at the time of the search.

Belim provided access to both units, where detectives said they located and seized the stolen merchandise, including 36 refrigerators and six pallets of Bath & Body Works products, along with approximately $17,000 in cash.

Law enforcement also discovered a large-scale narcotics operation.

In the Kwik Stop convenience store, investigators said they found prepackaged marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, oxycodone, and paraphernalia consistent with drug sales, including vacuum sealers, scales, and packaging materials.

They said the warehouse attached to that business contained additional cocaine and marijuana, as well as a secure office with surveillance video monitoring the premises.

Total narcotics seized from both units included:

  • Cocaine: 4.8 kilograms
  • Cannabis: 19.2 kilograms (approx. 42 pounds)
  • Ecstacy: seven pills
  • Oxycodone: four pills

Police said Belim was taken into custody; his booking and formal charges were not immediately released.
