Florida Cabinet to vote on Trump presidential library at Miami Dade College

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said the state Cabinet will vote next week on dedicating land at Miami Dade College to house the Presidential Library of Donald Trump.

Uthmeier said he plans to vote in favor of the proposal.

The library would be located on a 2.63-acre parcel adjacent to the Freedom Tower at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus, currently used as an employee parking lot.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the plan and will propose it during the September 30 meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund, which oversees state lands.

“President Trump has achieved results for the American people and made a lasting impact on our nation’s history,” DeSantis said in a news release obtained by Local 10 News on Tuesday. “No state has better delivered the President’s agenda than the Free State of Florida, and we would be honored to house his presidential library here in his home state.”

In a post on X Tuesday morning, Uthmeier wrote that the library will highlight key events in Trump’s presidency, including surviving two assassination attempts, securing the border, and rebuilding the U.S. military.

He also thanked DeSantis and Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega for their leadership, calling it “an honor to work on this project with the Trump Library Foundation.”

If approved, the site would become the first presidential library in Florida and could provide additional economic development opportunities across South Florida.
