TAMARAC, Fla. — A 43-year-old man has been arrested following a shooting in Tamarac Tuesday that left a woman injured, the Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

According to BSO, the shooting happened at approximately 5:27 p.m. in the area of the 8200 block of 74th Terrace in Tamarac.

According to authorities, deputies responded to a reported shooting and upon arrival, found a woman who had been shot.

First responders rushed the woman to a nearby hospital with injuries considered to be non-life-threatening, according to deputies.

Man accused of shooting woman in Tamarac

Neighbors told Local 10 News’ Brett Knese that the man who opened fire then barricaded himself inside a home.

Deputies utilized a drone, sirens and a loudspeaker, commanding the man to come out of the home.

BSO spokeswoman Claudinne Caro confirmed Wednesday morning that the suspect, identified as Eric Perez, has since been arrested after BSO SWAT team members and K-9 units searched the residence.

She said Perez faces charges of attempted murder, tampering with evidence and convicted felon in possession of ammunition.

Details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear.
