MIAMI — A Miami woman is facing a first-degree felony charge after police said she hit a 72-year-old woman in front of a police officer on Saturday evening.
The incident address was redacted from the Miami Police Department arrest report, but investigators said Marina Navarrete, 63, of Little Havana, was there “to retrieve stolen shoes” just before 8 p.m.
Police said an officer was sorting out the dispute when Navarrete asked the cop a question in Spanish: “How much would the bond be if I smacked her?”
It’s unclear whether she waited for an answer before police said she “proceeded to walk over to the victim” and hit the senior in the face, leading to her arrest on a charge of aggravated battery on a person 65 or older.
According to jail records, the answer to Navarrete’s alleged question turned out to be $1,000. But, there was a catch: she was already out on bond for one count of resisting arrest with violence and three counts of battery on a law enforcement officer.
That means she remained locked up in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Monday.
